Qazet.az reports that Seyyad Salahli, the first deputy chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Institutions, said in his statement to journalists.
S. Salahli reminded that Armenians destroyed 63 out of 65 mosques in Azerbaijan during the occupation: "Attributes and signs related to the Islamic religion were completely destroyed. We are not only restoring mosques, we are also restoring those places of worship to their former appearance and making some new additions."
The First Deputy Chairman noted that the restoration works in the liberated territories have already started: "The restoration of the Upper Govhar Aga Mosque is nearing completion, the restoration works are continuing in the Lower Govhar Aga, Saatli Mosque and other mosques. Extensive restoration works are being carried out in Shusha. The former appearance of Shusha besides returning it, a new face is being formed. In general, the restoration of Shusha, the restoration of our mosques and religious monuments is one of the main issues."
