The UN said that Belarus will allow the transit of grain from Ukraine without preconditions

Belarus has informed the United Nations that it will allow, without preconditions, the transit of grain from Ukraine through its territory for further export from Lithuanian ports.

According to UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Yury Ambrazevich met with UN Secretary General António Guterres in New York the day before to inform him that there are no prerequisites for the transit of Ukrainian grain, Qazet.az reports.

At the same time, Ambrazevich "reiterated his government's request to be able to export its own fertilizers, which are currently subject to sanctions," Dujarric said in a statement following the meeting.

Grain agreement: export of Ukrainian grain during the war

On July 22, Ukraine and Russia, through the mediation of Turkey, signed separate agreements with the UN on the resumption of the export of Ukrainian agricultural products by the Black Sea after the start of a full-scale war. The documents provide for the export of products from the ports of Chernomorsk, Odessa and Yuzhny and the creation of safe routes.

In addition, on November 26, the implementation of the new international initiative Grain from Ukraine began, under which Ukrainian food will be sent to African and Asian countries.

Ukraine plans to send at least 60 ships from ports to countries that are most affected by the food crisis and need urgent assistance. It is assumed that each ship with grain will provide food for an average of 90 thousand people.
