The United States has become the second largest gas supplier to the EU
The US has risen from third to second place among EU gas suppliers this year, ahead of Norway.
As Qazet.az reports with reference to TASS, this was stated by the Deputy Head of the European Commission (EC) Valdis Dombrovskis at an economic conference in Latvia, which was broadcast by the press service of the EC.
"We have managed to completely restructure our supplier structure. Norway has now become the largest supplier of natural gas, followed by the United States, which supplies liquefied natural gas," he said.
In 2021, the US became the third largest supplier of gas to the EU, displacing Algeria. The first position in 2021 belonged to Russia, the second to Norway, but even then the European Commission announced the need to phase out Russian gas supplies to the EU.
