Today marks the 25th anniversary of the first oil production from the Chirag platform

Today, it is 25 years since the first oil was obtained from the first platform of the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field block - Chirag.

According to the information provided by Qazet.az reports with reference to "BP-Azerbaijan", the operator of ACG, the official celebration of this important event is based on the decree signed by the late President of Azerbaijan, national leader Heydar Aliyev on October 27, 1997. It happened on November 12.

The start of production within the framework of the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) concluded for the first time in the country's history for the joint development of ACG fields in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea was a historic event that indicated that Azerbaijan's new independent oil strategy had begun to be implemented. Obtaining the first oil on the ACG from the Chirag platform, built by SOCAR before the contract was signed, had a symbolic meaning in itself. It also meant that behind all the success of ACG there are two main factors - reliable partnership and beneficial cooperation.
