Turkey wants to resume the transportation of Turkmenistan's gas from the territory of Azerbaijan to Europe
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wants to restore the transportation of Turkmenistan's gas to Europe by bypassing Russia and plans to discuss this topic in negotiations with Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
Qazet.az reports about this with reference to "Bloomberg".
According to information, it is planned to deliver the gas to Azerbaijan in tankers through the Caspian Sea, and then to Turkey through the pipeline network of the Southern Gas Corridor, and from there to Europe.
According to the agency, the implementation of the plan will take years, but the European market will be interested in an alternative supplier.
Earlier, it was reported that on December 9, Turkish representatives discussed the possibility of getting more than 25% discount on gas with the Russian delegation in Ankara. Turkey wants the discount to apply not only to payments in 2023, but also to some transactions in 2022.
It is noted that if Turkey does not agree to a discount at any level, it will ask for the payments to be postponed until 2024.
At the meeting held yesterday between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller, issues related to the supply of Russian gas to Turkish consumers were discussed, as well as the prospect of establishing a gas hub in Turkey.
