Ukraine expects to receive Iris air defense system from Germany

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has called on Germany to expedite the supply of tanks and artillery ammunition to Ukraine, including the German IRIS air defense system, Qazet.az reports according to UNIAN.

Kuleba was speaking at a joint press conference with German Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock following the talks in Kyiv.

"I will not hide the fact that the main topic of our talks today is the increase and acceleration of arms supplies to Ukraine," Kuleba said.

"This autumn we are counting on the first modern German IRIS air defense system. I could not help but mention the latest initiative - the so-called Leopard plan, which appeared in the German space. I noted the really important deliveries of this type of tanks from Germany. We see no obstacles to this," said the diplomat.

"But until this decision is made, I turned to a colleague with a proposal that Germany provide Ukraine with ammunition for artillery systems. This is what we need at the front. This decision is not as technically complex as the supply of tanks. But artillery Ammunition is now able to significantly enhance our offensive capabilities and this will help us liberate new territories and save people's lives," Kuleba stressed.
