US bans TikTok from government agencies
US federal authorities, following a similar ban in many states, banned TikTok from government devices due to security concerns.
Qazet.az reports referring to the Fox news channel.
China expert Gordon Chang explained this decision by the fact that any Chinese company can be forced to spy, and this does not depend on the degree of security of the device.
"We need to understand this," Chang said in an interview with the TV channel.
Representative of the Republican Party Nicole Malliotakis notes the importance of the decision in terms of both national and cyber security.
“Two years ago, this step was taken by the military authorities. They were followed by a decision by the Department of Homeland Security. Therefore, the ban on TikTok on all other government devices is a logical continuation of this step,” she notes.
According to her, this is not only a matter of national and cyber security, but also the security of all US citizens, since the personal information of each user is collected on the platform. Malliotakis noted that 100 million Americans are TikTok users.
“TikTok is not only collecting personal data, but also spreading false information. This is the way the Chinese Communist Party controls its citizens. We cannot allow this in our country,” Malliotakis said.
Asked about how to protect the younger generation from the negative impact of this social network, Malliotakis noted that next year there could be discussions in Congress about a complete ban on this platform across the country.
"This issue is of concern not only to parents, but also to the government," she said, adding that China poses the greatest danger to the United States and this threat should be taken seriously.
