Yandex.News and Zen will not lose traffic after acquisition by VK — experts
VK is highly likely to integrate purchased services with its platforms, Director of the Association of professional users of social media and messengers Vladimir Zykov
The traffic of Russia media resources owing to posting of materials on Yandex.News and Zen services should not change after their acquisition by VK, Director of the Association of professional users of social media and messengers Vladimir Zykov told, Qazet.az reports.
"The key issue is the extent for media to keep their traffic. In other words, to what degree VK will be able to substitute these two services. Yandex.News and Yandex.Zen provided about 60% of traffic for many mass media. This is the tremendous quantity," Zykov said. VK is highly likely to integrate purchased services with its platforms, he noted.
Yandex.News and Zen will have little changes in terms of media content, General Director of the Institute of Internet Development Alexey Goreslavsky said. "It is not yet very clear what will be there but I consider that all the parties assumed that nothing would change for the media. I believe it will be so," the expert said. "The motivation of Yandex is clear - all the matters related to news, and all the news now are more or less related to the political background, they are toxic for it as for the company listed on the exchange in the US. They decided to do so in order to avoid false interpretations," he added.
VK and Yandex earlier signed the term sheet on the sale of Yandex.News and Zen services.
