The Markarian brand, which was preferred by Jill Biden, the wife of the newly elected US President Joe Biden, has gone viral online, especially in Armenia.

It was named after the Soviet astronomer, astrophysicist Benjamin Markaryan (Margaryan), according to Sputnik Armenia.

The Markarian brand however, has nothing to do with Armenia, Qazet.az reports.

Who is Benjamin Markaryan?

Soviet astronomer, astrophysicist Benjamin Markaryan was born on November 29, 1913 in Shulaver village of Tiflis Governorate, Russian Empire.

He found out the existence of young unstable star systems in the Galaxy, the existence of which testifies to the continuation of the process of their formation in the new period. In addition, he revealed that stars are born in groups.

During his work, he discovered small galaxies of 13-17 stars in size, and further studies in various observatories have shown that there are many such active objects in the Metagalaxy.

Various scientists around the world conducted these studies and eventually, they were called 'Markarian's galaxies.'

In 2013, the Central Bank of Armenia issued a silver coin dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Benjamin Markaryan (with a face value of 1000 drams).

Markaryan is a laureate of the USSR State (Stalin) Prize (1950), he was also awarded the Order of Honor (1955) and the Order of Friendship of Peoples (1983).

The founder of the Markarian brand is not Armenian. Alexandra O'Neill was born in Colorado. She created her brand in 2017. O'Neill admitted that she loves the night and the starry sky.

The Markarian brand is the epitome of O'Neill's eternal feminine love for celestial romanticism.

The designer was taught to sew by his grandmother, Gigi when Alexandra was only 10.

"I grew up in Colorado. We had almost no neighbors. At night, when the lights were off, the only thing I could see were the stars. When I looked at the sky for a long time, I could see at least one 'falling star' ... the magic of those childish emotions still inspires me," says O'Neill.

The brand mainly creates colorful evening dresses, most of which are handmade. They cost about 1000-4000 dollars.

Jill Biden's soft turquoise dress was decorated with pearls and Swarowski crystals. It was entirely handmade.

It is noted that the color of the clothes symbolizes self-confidence, stability, in addition, it is the traditional color of the Democratic Party.
